Money is always tight, you live paycheck to paycheck, and now the holiday season rolls around and Christmas is staring you in the face… but you barely have enough money to feed your family, much less buy Christmas presents, what do you do?

Here is a look at how to get gifts, and some gift ideas, for your family without spending much if any money.

Freecycle.  Freecycle is an “entirely nonprofit movement of people who are giving (and getting) stuff for free in their own towns.”  Membership is free, and everything posted must be free, legal and appropriate for all ages.  Go to www.freecycle.org and find a group near you.

iTunes Transfer.  For that person in your life that is really into their music, upload all of their CDs to iTunes.  There’s no doubt that this will take a bit of time to accomplish, but for the music lover, it is the ultimate gift.

Give Your Talent.  Give someone what you do.  A gift of the things that you do we makes a great gift.  Do you sew? Are you a carpenter? A plumber?   Whatever your talent, make a “gift certificate” for the service you can provide.  Be sure to remind your recipient if they have not redeemed their gift… to save them the possible embarrassment of cashing in the gift.

Family.  Just being together with your family during the holiday season is a great gift in it self.
