Supporting the Fight Against ALS
Attorney Susan Grossberg’s website highlights a cause that immediately moved us. After reading about it, we felt compelled to donate and share the story here as well. This effort supports research that truly changes lives.
What Is the Tri-State Trek?
From July 24 to July 26, six riders will take part in the Tri-State Trek. This event is a three-day, 270-mile bike ride from Boston to New York. The ride raises funds for the ALS Therapy Development Institute (ALS TDI), the world’s leading ALS research center.
ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, is a neurodegenerative condition. It gradually paralyzes the body and affects speech, while the mind remains fully aware. Around 350,000 people worldwide live with ALS. After diagnosis, most patients survive only two to five years.
Steve Saling’s Story
Steve Saling, a close friend, received his ALS diagnosis in the fall of 2006. At first, we did not fully understand what the diagnosis meant for his future. Over time, learning more about ALS deepened our commitment to support this cause.
Steve chose to live fully every day after his diagnosis. He continues to inspire others in the ALS community to do the same. A retired architect, Steve helped design a $30 million assisted living facility for people with ALS. The center, scheduled to open in 2010, will provide comfort and independence through advanced technology.
His optimism and determination inspire everyone around him. Knowing Steve personally pushed us to take action and support ALS research.
Why the Tri-State Trek Matters
The Tri-State Trek represents more than a bike ride. It challenges riders physically, mentally, and emotionally. More importantly, it raises awareness and funding for ALS research.
This event brings people together to push past limits and support a community that needs hope.
Our Fundraising Goal
Our team committed to raising $7,950 for ALS research. With your help, we can exceed this goal and move closer to finding a cure.
Every contribution makes a difference.
