From June 23 to June 25, 2011, the Miami Beach Convention Center hosted a large homeowner assistance event. Bank of America, the nation’s largest mortgage servicer, organized this three-day workshop. The goal was to help homeowners who were facing foreclosure or struggling to keep their homes.
During the event, hundreds of trained Bank of America employees assisted homeowners. These employees specialized in mortgage solutions and equity protection. As a result, thousands of families received direct guidance and support.
In addition, counselors from Credit Card Management Services, Inc., doing business as DebtHelper.com, attended the event. HUD-approved housing counselors Mr. Carlos Llerena, Mr. Keith Berard, Mr. Dario Santa, Mr. Pedro Padilla, and Mr. Dario Santa traveled from West Palm Beach to participate. Throughout the event, they worked nonstop to support homeowners in need.
Each morning, homeowners arrived early and waited in long lines for help. Many were already in foreclosure, while others struggled to keep up with monthly payments. In most cases, a loss or reduction of income caused the problem. Moreover, many homeowners expressed frustration over long delays. They had submitted documents multiple times without receiving clear answers.
However, Bank of America helped ease concerns during the event. Homeowners watched an informational video and then met directly with underwriters. As a result, many felt heard and reassured. Most importantly, the event restored hope for families trying to save their homes.
Bank of America did not release details about how many loan modifications were approved. Still, the event provided clarity and direction for many struggling homeowners.
