5 Ways to Get in Shape without Joining a Gym

So you want to get in shape, but either don’t want to, or can’t afford to, join a gym… What to do?

Well, the answer is right there at home!

But is it possible to get a good workout without leaving your house?  You betcha!

The following are 5 ways you can get in shape without joining a gym.

1. Hit the Road Jack!

Go for a jog.  Jogging is one of the simplest exercise activities that you can do… and it doesn’t cost a dime!  Get outside!  The views are much better outside, even if you live in the city, than they are staring at the wall in front of a treadmill at the gym.

2. Throw Your Weight Around!

You don’t need expensive weights and workout equipment to get in shape.

Use your body weight.  There are a bunch of “bodyweight” exercises you can do.  Push-ups, sit-ups, pull-ups, squats, lunges and many more.

The best thing about this kind of exercise is that you can do it almost anywhere.  …and without any gym equipment.

3. Gone to the Dogs

Get a dog, go for a walk.  Okay, you don’t have to have a dog, but if you do that’s even better.  Get up early and take the dog for a walk.  Don’t just let the dog out and stand there waiting for him to do his “business”, take a long walk with the dog.  You will feel better and so will Fido!

4. Skip the Club, Hit the Court

This is a simple one… spend less time at the club with your friends and more time being “active” with them.  Go for a jog with your friends or go find a pickup game of basketball.

5. Eat Less – Move More

This should be a no-brainer but many people think that they need the latest fad diet or exercise program to get in shape, when actually, if you just eat less and exercise, even a little, you will begin to shed pounds and get fit.
