5 Great Bonfire Recipes

No matter how beautiful your camp site or the scenery is, the best part of camping is certainly eating around the campfire.

Here are 5 great Bonfire recipes sure to make the whole family happy.

Shish kebab – is a great tasting, fun item to cook over an open fire… they are easy and nutritious!  Cut up your ingredients, brown the meat in a skillet (over the open fire), skewer, and cook!

Camper’s Stew – A great bonfire recipe from eartheasy.com  On a strip of aluminum foil, crumble hamburger and top it with chopped potatoes, onions, carrots, broccoli, mushrooms, and any vegetable you have on hand. Add salt, pepper and a tsp of butter to the top. Wrap it up tight and stick on a bed of hot coals.

Backwoods Chili Rice Skillet – this one comes from koa.com… 1 pound(s) ground beef, 4 c Uncle Ben’s Quick brand rice, 3 c water, 1 c chopped onion, 1 large green pepper, chopped, 1 package chili seasoning mix, 1 can tomatoes, undrained, 1 can kidney beans, drained, 1 Tbsp salt, 1 c shredded Cheddar or Monterey Jack cheese… Brown meat, add remaining ingredients, boil. Cover tightly and simmer about 5 minutes… Sprinkle with cheese.

Simple Sausage Skillet – Sausage (or Kielbasa) green pepper strips, an onion, cut up red potatoes, salt and pepper… brown sausage in skillet, add peppers and onion… put potatoes on the top of everything, cover and simmer until the potatoes are done.

Bacon!  There is nothing better than the smell of bacon cooking on an open fire!  This is certainly the easiest recipe… put bacon in a skillet over the bonfire, cook… and enjoy!
